The United Arab Emirates has issued a strong condemnation following an aerial strike on two World Food Programme (WFP) contract trucks in Sudan. The convoy, which was carrying essential food supplies between Dilling and Kadugli in South Kordofan State, came under fire, resulting in the tragic death of one driver.
In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) highlighted the urgent necessity of safeguarding relief personnel. The Ministry emphasized that humanitarian aid must never be weaponized or subjected to political agendas. The UAE continues to advocate for an immediate, unconditional humanitarian truce and a ceasefire, calling for unimpeded access to aid for the Sudanese population.
Furthermore, the UAE reiterated its support for a credible political transition overseen by an inclusive civilian government, free from the influence of extremist factions or the warring parties. The Ministry stressed the importance of global joint efforts to alleviate the ongoing humanitarian suffering and meet the Sudanese people’s aspirations for long-term national stability and security.
