The United Arab Emirates has successfully delivered its fourth relief aircraft to the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing humanitarian air bridge operations. The flight, which arrived on Wednesday, transported approximately 38 tonnes of critical supplies, specifically including 500 tents and 108 relief packages designed to provide immediate shelter and support to those impacted by recent environmental disasters.
This latest delivery brings the total volume of humanitarian aid transported by the UAE to Nepal to approximately 186 tonnes. The comprehensive relief packages consist of food, medical supplies, and essential logistical equipment intended to address the urgent field requirements caused by severe floods and landslides. These natural disasters have resulted in hundreds of casualties and missing persons across the country, creating a dire need for international assistance.
Dr. Mahabir Pun, Nepal’s Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, expressed his appreciation for the UAE’s consistent support. He noted that the aid has reached a large number of affected individuals, playing a vital role in addressing the challenging conditions on the ground. Beyond international shipments, the UAE is also sourcing humanitarian supplies directly from the local Nepalese market to expedite distribution, working in close coordination with local authorities to prioritize the most vulnerable regions.
In addition to material aid, the Dubai Police search and rescue team remains actively engaged in field operations. Utilizing advanced technology and specialized equipment, the team is conducting search and assessment missions while collaborating with Nepalese authorities to bolster recovery efforts. These actions underscore the UAE’s commitment to rapid disaster response and international solidarity, maintaining a long-standing tradition of providing humanitarian assistance to communities facing crises.
