San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York was taken into custody Sunday morning in East Palestine, Ohio, following a sting operation conducted by the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force in collaboration with local police. According to court records, York allegedly responded to an online advertisement posted by an undercover officer on a website known for prostitution services. He reportedly “arranged to have sexual activity” with an individual “in exchange for $140.”
Upon arriving at the designated meeting location, York was arrested, and the mobile device he allegedly used to coordinate the encounter was confiscated. The legal proceedings concluded with a plea agreement in which the initial charge of engaging in prostitution was reduced to misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Additionally, York entered a plea of no contest to a misdemeanor count of possessing criminal tools.
Under the terms of the resolution, York was sentenced to one day in jail for each charge, with the sentences served concurrently and credited as time served. He was ordered to pay a total of $1,150 in fines. Furthermore, the $160 recovered at the scene was forfeited to the task force, while his cell phone was returned to him. Following the incident, York sought to have the court records sealed, arguing that his interest in privacy outweighed the government’s need to maintain the files; however, a judge denied the motion.
The NFL has acknowledged the situation, stating that the matter will be reviewed under the league’s personal conduct policy. In a brief statement, the 49ers organization noted that because the legal proceedings have been resolved, they would not provide further comment. This development follows a separate legal matter involving York, who filed for divorce from his wife, Danielle York, in May after their marriage began in 2011.
