On the occasion of the International Day of Charity, Make-A-Wish UAE partnered with Emirates Humanitarian City to bring joy to 18 children from Gaza currently residing in the UAE. The initiative focused on creating lasting, positive memories for the children and their families through the fulfillment of their personal wishes.
Mona Al Jaber, a member of the Make-A-Wish UAE Board of Trustees, attended the event alongside representatives from Emirates Humanitarian City. Reflecting on the impact of the program, Al Jaber noted that while the act of granting a wish is brief, it holds profound significance for the children and their families, providing them with cherished moments during challenging times.
Since the partnership between the two organizations began in 2024, they have successfully fulfilled 110 wishes for children from Gaza. Al Jaber emphasized the organization’s commitment to continuing this collaboration, stating that they intend to reach even more children in the future to ensure they remain a source of happiness and support.
This initiative is part of a broader, long-standing UAE humanitarian mission that has now spanned 1,000 days of support for Gaza. The nation’s extensive relief efforts include providing $3.9 billion in aid, which accounts for 46% of the global total, alongside the delivery of 903 tonnes and 800 tonnes of humanitarian supplies in separate missions.
The UAE’s ongoing commitment to the region is further evidenced by diverse support programs, including the care of 4,000 individuals in Gaza’s largest orphan community and the provision of free medical treatment to 2,100 children at a clinic in Dubai. Additional efforts have included a mass wedding ceremony held to mark the 54th Eid Al Etihad and the deployment of a specialized ship by Sheikh Mohammed to facilitate the distribution of 10 million meals.
By fostering community partnerships, the collaboration between Make-A-Wish UAE and Emirates Humanitarian City continues to create a tangible, positive impact on the lives of displaced families, ensuring that children receive the emotional support and joy they deserve despite their circumstances. The report also notes that we have, by the grace of God, fulfilled 110 wishes for children from Gaza, with each wish having its own story and bringing a special moment of happiness to the child and, since the beginning of our collaboration in 2024.
