The July Uprising Memorial Museum, a highly anticipated project, was officially inaugurated on Wednesday morning in the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area of the capital. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman presided over the ceremony as the chief guest, unveiling the commemorative plaque at 9:00 AM. He was accompanied by Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the former Chief Adviser of the interim government, during the event.
Following the formal opening, the Prime Minister toured the facility, examining various galleries, preserved artifacts, historical photographs, documents, and other significant memorabilia on display. The museum is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the July Uprising, which stands as a landmark in the nation’s history of democratic struggle against fascism, while ensuring the sacrifices of martyrs and fighters are documented for future generations.
While the museum remained reserved for special guests and the families of those who lost their lives during the uprising on the day of the opening, it will be accessible to the general public starting Thursday, August 6. Visitors are required to purchase tickets online to gain entry. The pricing has been set at 50 taka for adults and 25 taka for children.
Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury had previously announced the details of the launch during a press conference held at the Secretariat on August 4. He emphasized that the institution serves as a vital repository for the true history of the movement, honoring the collective efforts of those who participated in the historic struggle.
