Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially opened a new vehicle tunnel connecting the Dubai–Al Ain Road with the Oud Metha Service Road. This infrastructure is a key component of the broader Oud Metha Road and Al Asayel Street Development Project.
The newly constructed tunnel spans 260 metres in length and features a single lane. It is engineered to accommodate a capacity of up to 1,200 vehicles per hour, providing a dedicated route that reduces traffic overlap and weaving maneuvers for motorists.
By streamlining the connection between these two major thoroughfares, the RTA intends to facilitate smoother and more efficient journeys. The project is part of a series of strategic improvements designed to optimize the efficiency of Dubai’s road network.
The RTA stated that the project supports its ongoing efforts to provide convenient travel for motorists. These development works aim to support a more integrated mobility network across the city and improve the overall travel experience for road users.
This initiative follows a series of recent infrastructure milestones in the emirate, including projects that have successfully reduced travel times from 104 to 16 minutes and others that have cut transit times by 60 percent.
The authority continues to focus on enhancing connectivity through such developments, addressing bottlenecks to ensure better traffic flow across Dubai’s expanding urban landscape.
