The United States military launched a strike on Iran’s Larak Island this Sunday, targeting two Iranian launchers identified by officials as being prepared for the deployment of mines into the Strait of Hormuz. This action represents the first military engagement in the region in over a month.
The operation follows recent efforts by US Central Command, which successfully cleared sea mines from the critical international shipping lanes within the waterway just last week.
Officials emphasized that American forces continue to maintain a close watch over the area. “US forces are monitoring the area closely and remain prepared to protect the free flow of commerce through this essential waterway,” a representative stated.
