Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has issued a directive to establish language training centers across the country, aimed at equipping Bangladeshi youth with the necessary skills for overseas employment. The announcement was made by the Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary, Atiqur Rahman Rumon, following a meeting of the Committee on Increasing Overseas Employment and Expatriate Welfare held at the Secretariat on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
During the meeting, which took place at the Prime Minister’s office, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for urgent action to prepare unemployed youth for international job markets. He specifically instructed that these training centers be staffed by a combination of local and international instructors to ensure high-quality language education. The initiative is designed to help job seekers overcome language barriers and secure better employment opportunities abroad.
The meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister, focused on strategies to accelerate the creation of foreign employment opportunities. Key officials in attendance included Minister for Labour and Employment and Expatriate Welfare Ariful Haque Chowdhury, State Minister Nurul Haque Nur, Prime Minister’s Advisor Mahadi Amin, Principal Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar, and various other ministry secretaries and senior officials.
Addressing the financial challenges faced by migrant workers, the Prime Minister instructed relevant ministries to simplify the process for obtaining bank loans at low interest rates. This measure is intended to prevent job seekers from having to sell their personal assets or property to fund their migration. Furthermore, the Prime Minister directed the Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism to implement free Wi-Fi services at the terminals of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram, and MAG Osmani International Airport in Sylhet, bringing them in line with international standards.
