In a significant milestone for its international environmental diplomacy, the UAE has been appointed as a member of the Bureau of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA) under the Convention on Biological Diversity. This selection, which covers the 29th and 30th sessions, was confirmed with the unanimous support of nations within the Asia and Pacific region.
This appointment represents the first time the UAE has secured a seat on one of the Convention on Biological Diversity bureaus. The move underscores growing global recognition of the country’s proactive contributions toward international biodiversity conservation and environmental protection initiatives.
