The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has reported a 15% reduction in private sector establishments found in violation of labour market laws during the first half of 2026, compared to the same period in 2025. This downward trend is attributed to the ministry’s enhanced inspection and compliance framework, which integrates artificial intelligence, advanced data analytics, and targeted risk indicators to bolster market stability.
During the first six months of the year, inspection teams carried out approximately 212,000 site visits. These operations were guided by a smart monitoring system designed to prioritize high-risk activities and establishments, significantly improving the precision and efficiency of regulatory oversight. The success of these initiatives is further evidenced by a 49% drop in cases referred to the Public Prosecution; only 490 cases were escalated this year, compared to 962 during the corresponding period in 2025.
Common infractions identified during these campaigns included the recruitment or employment of staff without obtaining the necessary legal permits and approvals. Other frequent violations involved failures to process wages through the mandatory Wage Protection System (WPS) and the submission of inaccurate documentation or data to the ministry. Officials emphasized that securing proper permits before hiring and ensuring timely salary disbursements are critical steps for businesses to avoid legal repercussions.
The ministry’s inspection strategy leverages digital tools that assist inspectors in identifying specific risk indicators and focusing on priority cases. These systems are supported by robust reporting and communication channels, which ensure that supervision remains objective and accurate. To maintain this momentum, the government continues to invest in the professional development of its inspection teams, providing them with modern practices and technology to handle evolving labour market challenges.
Moving forward, the MoHRE remains committed to refining its compliance systems while fostering stronger partnerships with employers. By promoting preventive adherence to legislation, the ministry aims to protect the rights of both workers and business owners, ultimately cultivating a more competitive, stable, and secure work environment across the UAE private sector. The report also notes that with just 490 cases reported, down from 962 during the same period last year, which indicates a notable decline in serious violations that require, the number of cases referred to Public Prosecution also decreased by 49%.
