Sharjah Residents Observe Crescent Moon and Venus in Evening Sky

Residents in Sharjah were treated to a clear celestial display on Sunday evening as both the crescent moon and Venus became visible in the night sky. Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomical Society and a member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, confirmed the sighting.

The planet Venus remains highly visible to the naked eye above the western horizon shortly after sunset. This appearance follows its greatest eastern elongation from the sun, which occurred this past Saturday at a distance of approximately 46 degrees. Al Jarwan noted that the proximity of the planet to the crescent moon offers an ideal opportunity for both casual stargazing and photography.

While the crescent moon appeared higher on the horizon on Sunday, Venus is expected to gradually descend toward the setting sun over the next few weeks.
