The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office noted that in instances involving individuals in crisis, deputies prioritize de-escalation tactics, which include creating distance and time to facilitate communication. Consequently, law enforcement instructed emergency responders to wait nearby for several hours. It was not until approximately 10:40 p.m. that medical staff were dispatched back to the property, eventually entering the home with police support around 11 p.m. to provide care and transport Hilton to a medical facility.
On August 5, Hilton’s family issued a formal statement confirming that he is currently receiving medical treatment.
