Israel and Morocco have formally committed to upgrading their diplomatic presence by establishing full embassies and appointing ambassadors to each other’s capitals. This significant step toward closer cooperation was finalized on Wednesday in New York during a meeting hosted by United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz.
Economic cooperation remains a cornerstone of this renewed partnership. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar and Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita have pledged to accelerate trade relations. The two nations are now working to finalize comprehensive agreements regarding investment protection and the prevention of double taxation, both of which are slated for completion before the end of this year.
A joint statement issued by the US mission on behalf of all three parties emphasized that fostering peaceful, friendly relations serves the collective interests of both nations while bolstering regional stability. To facilitate these growing ties, the ministers confirmed plans for reciprocal high-level bilateral visits scheduled for the upcoming months, alongside a commitment to resume direct commercial flights operated by carriers from both countries.
This development follows the sixth anniversary of the Abraham Accords, an initiative launched during the first term of US President Donald Trump. Designed to normalize relations between Israel and various Arab and Muslim-majority states, the framework has previously facilitated diplomatic entry for the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Kazakhstan.
