Bruce Willis made a rare public appearance on August 8 to celebrate the wedding of his 32-year-old daughter, Tallulah Willis, to musician Justin Acee. The ceremony took place at the bride’s home in Sun Valley, Idaho, as the 71-year-old actor continues to navigate his ongoing battle with frontotemporal dementia.
Vogue shared images of the event on August 14, including a poignant black-and-white photograph of the “Die Hard” star embracing his daughter while holding the hand of his new son-in-law. In the photo, Willis is dressed casually in a short-sleeved button-up shirt, trousers, and a woven fedora, while Tallulah is seen in a custom cream-colored Balenciaga gown.
The actor’s ex-wife, actress Demi Moore, was also in attendance, appearing in a photograph wearing a flowy blue satin dress. Moore and Willis were married from 1987 to 2000 and share three daughters: Rumer, 37, Scout, 35, and Tallulah. Regarding her relationship with Acee, Tallulah told Vogue that the couple decided early on to “choose each other every day.” The pair previously announced their engagement in December 2024 through an Instagram post featuring romantic imagery of the couple surrounded by rose petals and candles.
Willis, who retired from his acting career in March 2022 following an initial aphasia diagnosis, has seen his condition progress to frontotemporal dementia. According to the Mayo Clinic, this group of brain disorders impacts the frontal and temporal lobes, which are responsible for behavior, personality, and language. The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration notes that these areas of the brain are central to these core human functions.
Beyond his children with Moore, the actor has been married to entrepreneur and former model Emma Heming Willis since 2009. The couple shares two daughters, 14-year-old Mabel and 12-year-old Evelyn. Since his diagnosis, Heming Willis has become a prominent advocate for caregivers, detailing her experiences in her September-published book, “The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope, and Yourself on the Caregiving Path.”
During a January 28 appearance on the “Conversations with Cam” podcast, Heming Willis shared her perspective on her husband’s condition. She expressed gratitude that Bruce remains unaware of his diagnosis, describing it as both a “blessing and the curse.” She noted that he never fully grasped the nature of his illness, a reality she finds comforting.
The event highlights the close-knit nature of the Willis family as they support one another through the challenges posed by the actor’s health. The celebration in Sun Valley served as a significant milestone for the family, bringing together both sides of the actor’s life to honor Tallulah and her husband.
She confirmed their engagement in a December 2024 Instagram post, which featured photos of the couple smooching and holding hands, surrounded by rose petals, candles, and a Christmas tree, with the caption “Everyday.”
He never connected the dots that he had this disease, and I’m really happy about that.”
