During the third edition of the Hili 2026 Forum held in Abu Dhabi, Minister of Foreign Trade Dr. Thani Bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi emphasized that maintaining freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz remains a critical priority. He stated that the UAE and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member nations view any attempts to restrict this essential waterway as unacceptable. Al Zeyoudi highlighted a strong international consensus against allowing any single coastal nation to exert control or influence over passage rights, asserting that global trade routes must remain open and free from arbitrary constraints.
Reflecting on the past six months, the Minister acknowledged that the region has faced significant hurdles. However, he noted that the UAE’s strategic response, directed by its leadership, has demonstrated remarkable resilience. By transforming these regional difficulties into tangible opportunities, the nation has reinforced its commitment to global commerce. Al Zeyoudi concluded that this proactive approach has solidified the UAE’s position as a vital link between continents, ensuring that the country continues to thrive despite the complexities of the current geopolitical landscape.
