The Ajman Municipality and Planning Department has been honoured with four major awards at the 2026 Middle East & North Africa (MENA) Stevie Awards. This recognition celebrates the department’s significant contributions to government innovation, environmental sustainability, circular economy practices, and the advancement of smart-city infrastructure.
The department secured accolades in several key categories, including Innovative Management in Government for organizations with 100 or more employees, as well as awards for Most Innovative Circular Economy Practices and Most Innovative Urban Sustainability and Smart City Transformation. Additionally, its “Smart Maps in Investment” initiative—a project leveraging geospatial data and advanced digital technology to streamline access to investment opportunities—was recognized for innovation in government services.
Dr. Eng. Khaled Moeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector, accepted the honours on behalf of the municipality. He attributed the success to a robust institutional framework built on knowledge, data analysis, and a relentless focus on achieving tangible, measurable outcomes for the emirate.
Looking ahead, the department plans to further embed scientific research into its policy development and accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence in its decision-making processes. These efforts are intended to strengthen smart environmental systems and continue the transition toward a more circular economy.
The department’s recent performance is underscored by a portfolio of more than 30 strategic projects focused on public health and environmental protection. These initiatives have already achieved remarkable milestones, such as reaching a 100 per cent reuse rate for treated wastewater and successfully expanding the emirate’s green spaces by approximately 2.3 million square metres. The report also notes that jury unveiled for Sustainability Excellence Awards 2025.
