President Donald Trump updated his ranking of U.S. presidents in a Sunday, Sept. 6, post on Truth Social. This follows an initial ranking that appeared on his Truth Social account on Aug. 27, which linked Trump as “The Greatest,” with Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson on the next tier down, labeled “Great.”
Expansion of the Presidential List
The Sept. 6, post on Truth Social included several former presidents who were absent from the first list, including Ronald Reagan, John F. Kennedy, Gerald Ford and George W. Bush. Reagan, long known for being a conservative icon, was placed in the “Near Great” tier. This Polk, Woodrow Wilson and Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Adjustments to the ‘Failures’ Tier
- In the first ranking, the very last tier, labeled “Failures” by Trump, included former presidents Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Ulysses S. Grant, Warren Harding and Jimmy Carter.
- The new ranking has been updated to include George W. Bush and Herbert Hoover in that bottom tier.
- Herbert Hoover was previously categorized in the “Average” tier.
Trump has not provided public commentary regarding the charts. The updated graphics reflect a broader assessment of historical figures compared to the initial Aug. 27 list, which had a more limited scope of included presidents. The rankings remain a point of interest as Trump continues to utilize his social media platform to evaluate his predecessors and contemporaries against his own administration’s legacy.
