The Sharjah Central Finance Department has officially integrated the UAE’s national payment card, Jaywan, into its Tahseel government collection system. This expansion allows users to utilize the card for both digital and in-person transactions, further supporting the emirate’s ongoing digital transformation initiatives.
Customers can now process government payments through the official Tahseel website and its smart application, as well as at all physical Tahseel service centres. This move is designed to offer a more secure and flexible payment experience while simplifying the overall transaction process for the public.
The adoption of the national card has already seen steady usage since its initial rollout. Records indicate that the first payment using a Jaywan card was processed on September 20, 2025. By the conclusion of the first half of 2026, more than 558 transactions had been successfully completed through the Tahseel platform using this method.
Huda Al Yasi, Director of the Financial System Department, emphasized that Tahseel serves as a cornerstone of Sharjah’s digital financial infrastructure. She noted that incorporating Jaywan is a strategic effort to enhance collection efficiency and elevate the customer experience. According to Al Yasi, the inclusion of the card is not just an additional payment choice but a significant step toward strengthening the diversity of national financial solutions.
Looking ahead, the department remains committed to advancing the capabilities of the Tahseel system. Al Yasi confirmed that officials will continue to leverage digital solutions to streamline payments, boost operational efficiency, and adapt to the evolving needs of customers.
The integration of the Jaywan card into local government services aligns with the broader national strategy for digital financial services. As the system expands, the Jaywan card is positioned for broader utility, with infrastructure designed to eventually support operations across 183 countries, complementing other national initiatives like the Aani payment system for federal fines.
