Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially entered the exclusive $2 billion club, becoming only the eighth film in cinematic history to reach this global revenue milestone. According to Sony, the Marvel production secured this achievement during its third weekend in theaters, bolstered by $70 million in domestic ticket sales and $118.7 million from international markets, bringing its total worldwide haul to $2.022 billion.
This performance marks the second-fastest climb to the $2 billion threshold, trailing only the 2019 release Avengers: Endgame. Furthermore, the film has now eclipsed the $1.9 billion lifetime gross of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, establishing itself as the highest-grossing entry in the Spider-Man franchise to date.
Within the current decade, Brand New Day stands as only the third film to hit the $2 billion mark, joining the 2022 sci-fi sequel Avatar: The Way of Water and the 2025 Chinese animated feature Ne Zha 2. It also holds the distinction of being the first American-produced movie to reach this level of success in nearly four years.
Since its July 31 debut, the film, which stars Tom Holland and Zendaya, has shattered numerous industry records. Its opening weekend generated $360 million domestically, surpassing the previous record held by Avengers: Endgame. The momentum continued into the second weekend with an additional $144 million, a figure that outperformed the opening weekends of most 2026 releases, with the notable exception of Toy Story 5.
In its third weekend, the movie maintained its top position at the box office, successfully fending off the debut of the Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway thriller The End of Oak Street, which opened at No. 3 with $21 million. Domestically, Brand New Day has already reached $785.8 million, making it the fourth highest-grossing film in North American history. It remains the fastest movie to reach the $500 million domestic mark, accomplishing the feat in just one week.
Industry analysts are now watching to see if the film can surpass the $936 million domestic record set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015, a title that has remained unchallenged for over a decade.
According to Box Office Mojo, the list of films that have grossed $2 billion worldwide (not adjusted for inflation) now includes: Avengers: Endgame (2019) at $2.8 billion, Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) at $2.33 billion, Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) at $2.07 billion, Avengers: Infinity War (2018) at $2.05 billion, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) at $2.02 billion. The report also notes that welcome to the $2 billion club, Spidey. The report also notes that starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, “Brand New Day” has been breaking a slew of records since opening in theaters on July 31 and blowing all box office expectations out of the water.
