The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) has successfully dismantled an international syndicate involved in providing fraudulent documents for health screenings under the Foreign Workers Medical Examination and Monitoring Agency (FOMEMA). A special operation conducted in Kuala Lumpur led to the arrest of five Bangladeshi nationals suspected of operating this illegal network.
Immigration Director-General Datuk Zakaria Shaaban confirmed on Wednesday, September 3, that the raids took place at 9:40 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2. Authorities targeted two separate residences located in the Jalan Jelawat and Jalan Razak Mansion areas of Kuala Lumpur. The suspects, aged between 19 and 41, include two individuals identified as the primary masterminds behind the operation.
According to the Director-General, the syndicate was charging between 150 and 250 ringgit per document to provide fake passport services to citizens from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Myanmar, Nepal, and Indonesia. During the raids, officials seized various forged passports, passport covers, 11 mobile phones, 2,100 ringgit in cash, as well as printing materials including transparent adhesive paper, colored ink, paper cutters, and a Perodua Aruz vehicle.
Preliminary investigations revealed that among the five arrested, three held temporary work visit passes (PLKS) for the construction sector, one possessed a student pass, and the fifth individual was residing in the country illegally. All suspects have been detained under Section 56(1)(i) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. Director-General Zakaria emphasized that the department remains committed to enforcing the law strictly against any activities involving document forgery to protect the nation’s security and sovereignty.
