A prominent singer has been taken into custody in Dubai following allegations that they orchestrated a scheme to sell nearly 40 fraudulent visas. Major General Dr. Ali Bin Ajif Al Zaabi, Assistant Director General of the Violators and Foreigners Follow-up Sector at the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), confirmed the arrest, noting that the operation specifically targeted individuals seeking legal residency status within the UAE.
According to the investigation, the accused exploited job seekers by charging between Dh7,000 and Dh9,000 for each counterfeit document. Victims were misled with false promises of legitimate residency, only to discover later that the transactions were entirely illegitimate and provided no legal standing in the country.
The GDRFA has reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring and dismantling criminal networks involved in residency fraud. Major General Al Zaabi emphasized that the agency remains highly vigilant against such deceptive practices, which frequently prey on vulnerable people looking for employment or attempting to regularize their status. The department continues to actively pursue those who abuse the nation’s visa and residency systems through these types of scams. The report also notes that it later emerged that the visas and related transactions did not provide the buyers with any legitimate residency status.
